The Logan County 4-H State STEM Innovators hosted STEM Day on July 17, 2026. The STEM Innovators taught about wildlife and fisheries, geology, and meteorology. In Jimmy Ferguson’s workshop, participants made pop can fishing rigs, and learned how to identify common plants and fish in Oklahoma. In Gracie Ferguson’s workshop, 4-H’ers played a game representing the water cycle, and learned about different types of clouds. In Gabby McLemore’s workshop, 4-H members made a delicious dirt cake representing the different layers of the Earth’s crust. They also learned about the three main types of rocks: metamorphic, sedimentary, and igneous. 4-H’ers ended the event by playing a couple rounds of the game “Oh Deer” where one team is the deer and the other team is a natural resource that the deer needs for survival. Everyone enjoyed STEM Day, and learned many new and interesting things.
