Cashion headed to Class A semi-finals third straight year

The Cashion Wildcats football team are headed for the Class A State semifinals for the third straight year after disposing of Woodland 41-22 on November 26 in Woodland. The game Friday night will be in Ponca City against Pawhuska, a team they beat 7-6 in last year’s semi-final game.

Wildcats score early and often, advance to third round 55-6

The second round of the Class A football playoffs are in the books, and the Cashion Wildcats are into the third round after rolling Hooker 55-6 on Nov. 19 in Cashion. The third round finds the Wildcats traveling to the north to Woodland High School this Friday night for a third-round game.

Counts and Ryans named Crescent Winter Homecoming Queen and King

The Crescent High School basketball teams celebrated homecoming on Nov. 19 in its season opening game against Wellston. Senior Kaylie Counts was named the queen and senior Ethan Ryans was named the king in ceremonies at halftime of the boy’s game. Counts is the daughter of Nick and Heather Counts.

The Guthrie Bluejays were at home for a playoff game for the first time since 2014, hosting a tough Noble Bears team that brought an offense in averaging over 40 points a game.

The Cashion Wildcats opened defense of their Class A championship on Nov. 12 with an easy 48-14 win over Dibble in Cashion. The Wildcats are at home again Friday night, hosting Hooker (10-1) in a second-round game with a 7 p.m. kickoff. The Wildcats beat Hooker last year in Cashion 60-22.

Tigers celebrate Senior Night, lose to rival Cashion, 40-8 to end season

The War on 74 rivalry between Cashion and Crescent was played on Nov. 5 in Crescent. It was Senior Night for the Tigers while the Wildcats eventually took command on their way to a 40-8 win. The Tigers finish the season 3-7, 0-5 in district play and are through for the year.

The Guthrie Bluejays will be playing a playoff game at home on Week 11 after a come-from-behind overtime thrilling 35-34 win over the Bishop McGuiness Irish on Senior Night at Jelsma Stadium on Oct. 29.
