Guthrie cross country teams third at Owasso

Guthrie High’s cross country teams finished third at the Owasso meet last weekend. The Lady Bluejays collected 116 points in a field of 11 teams. Owasso won the meet with 21 points and Edmond Memorial was second with 35. Both are Class 6A schools.

Coyle High’s football team scored early and often in a 50-0 homecoming win against the South Coffeyville Lions on Friday night. The game was called at halftime due to the mercy rule.

Kade Varner threw for five touchdowns -- four to Isaiah Lovett, who had five catches for 177 yards -- as the Crescent Tigers opened district football action Friday night with a 48-15 romp against the Watonga Eagles.

Bluejays cross country teams dominate Hennessey meet

Guthrie High’s varsity cross country teams set the pace in their divisions and the junior high’s cross country teams each placed second in Saturday’s meet at Hennessey. In the boys varsity race, Guthrie scored 43 points to defeat the Oklahoma City Knights Home School team by 14 points.
