Lady Bluejays win slugfest at Elgin, now lead district

Guthrie High’s softball team won a critical district game Monday, beating Elgin 13-9. The win avenges a 7-6 loss earlier this month in Guthrie and gives the Lady Bluejays the tiebreaker on runs differential, 4-1, for the district lead.

Bluejays declaw Class 4A Tigers for Homecoming

What a game! What a crowd! And what a defensive effort by the Guthrie Bluejays on Friday night in a 20-3 Homecoming win against the No. 4 Class 4A Tuttle Tigers. In front of a noisy, overflow crowd inside Jelsma Stadium, the Bluejays virtually shut down a potent Tiger offense to improve to 4-0.

Fortney, Boller lead Guthrie teams to third at Carl Albert meet

Guthrie High School’s cross country teams got an early wake-up call Friday, when their start times for the Carl Albert Invitational were moved up two hours to avoid the heat. That meant the girls started at 7:45 a.m. and the boys around 8:20 a.m. instead of at 9:30 and 10 a.m., respectively.

Tigers, Bluejackets cruise to season-opening wins

The Crescent Tigers and Coyle Bluejackets opened their 2023 football seasons last week with convincing non-district road wins. The Tigers defeated Mooreland 41-16 on Friday, a day after the Bluejackets beat Fox 34-6. Crescent scored four times in the first quarter to lead 28-0.
