The Guthrie Lady Bluejays’ slow-pitch season came to an end last week in regional action at Jenks. The day started with a 21-2 run rule over Tulsa Memorial, scoring 19 runs in the first inning. The game was called because of the run rule after three innings.

The Lady Bluejays only had ten hits but got 13 walks in the game. Abbie Eichler had three hits and six runs batted in with the lone home run in the game. Katelynn Siess had a double and drove four runs in to help the offense. Codi Hibbs and Ryann Waters had doubles for the only other extra base hits.

The win sent the Guthrie squad up against Jenks. The home team would end up with a 12-2 run rule in six innings, scoring six runs in the second inning. Hibbs and Siess scored the only runs in the game for Guthrie. Eichler had two of the team’s eight hits in the game. Siess had a triple, and Shelbey Smedley and Mackenzie Knight had doubles in the game.

Jenks would win the championship game by an 8-2 final, scoring all of their runs in the first two innings. The Lady Bluejays scored in the seventh inning to avoid the shutout, with Eichler’s home run in the seventh inning plating both runs. Guthrie only had six hits in the game.

Guthrie ended its regular season on April 24 when they beat Perkins-Tryon 5-4 in Guthrie. Hibbs and Ashlee Eichler led the way with two hits each. The Lady ‘Jays scored five runs in the first inning and held on for the win despite getting outhit 10-7 in the game.

The Lady Bluejays end the season with a record 10-13. They lose only senior Ashlee Eichler, who finishes a stellar softball career when she graduates later this month.
