Phillip Lynn Gellenbeck was born in Edmond, Oklahoma to Harry Dempsy and Vera Mae (Gibson) Gellenbeck on July 8, 1961 and went to be with the Lord on June 19, 2023 in Edmond.

On November 15, 1980, he married his sweetheart and partner in Christ’s work, Rosa Marie Huskey, and they were blessed with five children and seventeen grandchildren who are left to cherish his memory: Matthew and LouCinda of Shawnee, Oklahoma; their children, Victor, Winston, Nate, William, and Landric; Michael and Sarah of Guthrie, OK; their children, Kelvin, Melia, Patrick, Saralyn, and Kaylin; Caleb and Lindsey of Washougal, Washington; their children Reston, Thatcher, and Emmett; Kelsey and Marcus, of Jagueyes, Chihuahua Mexico; their daughter Emmalyn; Robert and Nicole of Guthrie, Oklahoma; their children Robert, Kezia, and Kenzie. Phillip will be missed by the Padilla grandchildren, Maria, Miklo, Kiki, Mylo, Eddie, and particularly Juan who resided in their home for five years. James, Sandy and Eli Thomas who are the latest of Phillip and Rosie’s spiritual children will cherish the love shown to them.

He is also survived by five siblings, Mark and Liz of Newalla, Oklahoma; Steve and Margie of Crescent, Oklahoma; Jeannine and Lonnie Miles of Guthrie, Oklahoma; Carla and Bill Delano of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Dan and Angela of Gravel Switch, Kentucky. An abundance of beloved nieces and nephews on both sides of the family will continue to hear their uncle’s constant reminder to “be good’.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Vera Gellenbeck and his brothers, Paul and John.

Being a family of many boys, Phillip’s father taught all his sons carpentry from a young age, which later enabled them all to begin a successful business together. He graduated with highest honors from Bethany High School, where he thoroughly enjoyed learning and applying his knowledge. As a young man, he had a passion for learning the truth of God’s word for himself, and whole-heartedly dedicated himself to the work of the Lord. This opened up many opportunities for ministry, including leading the Path of Life School for many years, in which his wife faithfully served beside him. Their work in the kingdom is what drew them together and determined their life’s purpose as a couple.

He and his brother, Dan owned and operated Gellenbeck Installation, Inc., beginning in the early nineties, which employed many ministers and gospel workers of the church. Oftentimes, their clients asked Phillip and Dan where they found men of such high caliber to work for them.

For the last 13 years, Phillip has served as pastor for the Church of God congregation in Guthrie, Oklahoma. His ministry was like unto that of a shepherd–he loved and carried his flock as if they were his own children. Although the congregation is large, he often named out each member in prayer. In the midst of his service, the Lord called, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.”

Funeral services for Phillip Lynn Gellenbeck were held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, June 24, 2023 at Church of God Chapel with Brother Ed Wilson officiating. Interment followed at Memory Gardens Memorial Park Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.
