James “Jim” Stover passed away on September 4th, 2023, in Kingfisher, Oklahoma. He was born on December 4th, 1947, to parents Otto and Jean (Little) Stover in El Reno, Oklahoma. During his youth he attended Cashion Schools.

On June 23, 1967, he married his high school sweetheart, Janet Murray, after dating for 4 years. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with their family in Mexico 6 years ago.

He grew up on a dairy farm, milking Holsteins and farming wheat, and took over the farm from his dad to run Stover Dairy with his brother Mike.

Jim was active in many areas. He served for years as a little league coach for his children while they were growing up and was a big supporter of Cashion sports. He kept the books during all his children’s sports programs, and once almost got coach Stidham too many technicals and kicked out of the game. He was very active and supportive of all his grandkids’ sports, no matter what direction he had to go. He was passionate to the point of almost getting kicked out of games.

He worked for Kingfisher County Conservation District and Logan County Conservation District, as well as the NRCS. He was also President of Cashion All Sports. Along with the many things Jim was active in, he also taught GPS Mapping at Langston.

Faith was important to Jim. He served as the church administrator at First Baptist Church in Cashion and was ordained as a Deacon of the First Baptist Church of Kingfisher.

Jim is survived by his wife Janet of the home, his three children; Jaime Stover and wife Tara of Crescent, Jana Stover-Trello of Cashion, and Jeremy Stover and wife Sarah of Edmond, seven grandchildren; Jaici and Tucker Stover, Otto and Levi Trello, Karsyn, Kadence, and Kyzer Stover, and bonus grandson Braylin Babb, sisterin- law Ina Stover of Cashion, five nieces, and numerous great nieces and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents Otto and Jean, brother Mike Stover, and his mother and father-inlaw R.L. and Hermina Murray.

A funeral service to honor the life of Jim will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 8, 2023 at the First Baptist Church in Cashion. Burial will follow in the Mathewson Cemetery in Piedmont. Viewing will be held at Wilson Funeral Home- Kingfisher on Thursday, September 7 from 11:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Jim’s name to the Cashion First Baptist Church building fund.
