OKLAHOMA – Each year, the Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition (OVAC) hosts the 12x12 Art Fundraiser, which features diverse art by 175 Oklahoma artists. Each artist creates a unique piece that is twelve-by-twelve inches, and the artwork will be auctioned Friday, September 25th, 6pm-10pm. This year, the auction is going virtual.

“This year, we are all partying from home. Our new digital platform will actually help us put more focus on the most important part of the event—the artists,” says OVAC’s Executive Director, Krystle Brewer. “The funds go to support our critical grants and awards for artists as well as support our other statewide programs. Our Grants for Artists program is essential for Oklahoma artists to elevate their practice, receive new educational opportunities, and take that next step forward in their careers.”

Mark your calendars to browse, bid, and buy artwork through the online auction that will connect art supporters throughout the entire state. In addition to the artwork, a livestream video in partnership with The House Helps will bring plenty of virtual surprises to your “couch” party! There is no fee to watch the livestream, but OVAC is accepting donations to offset the loss of revenue from ticket sales. Visit www.12x12okc.org to give online and register to bid.

This year, former Oklahoma City Thunder basketball player Desmond Mason and his wife Rebecca Mason will be serving as Honorary Co-chairs for the 12x12 Art Fundraiser. “Supporting Oklahoma artists is important to us because I know what that support feels like personally,” says Mason. “The love and support gives you the vote of confidence to keep pushing. We love being a part of 12x12 especially the exhibition. It allows us to experience the creative talent that our great state has to offer the world of art.”

This event is sponsored in part by Allied Arts, the Oklahoma Arts Council, Kirkpatrick Family Foundation, George Kaiser Family Foundation, and the Andy Warhol Foundation for Visual Arts.
