The Guthrie Lay Bluejays are headed back to the state tournament tomorrow with a 10 a.m. game against Duncan.
The games are being played at Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City this year. Guthrie qualified last week with run rule wins of 16-5 and 11-0 against El Reno.
Brylan Shephard, Haley Gallo and Kinley Duehning all had home runs in the fiveinning game.
Holland McLemore went the distance in the circle giving up five hits, five runs, five walks, and striking out four.
Gallo had four hits, four runs batted in, and four runs scored in the game.
Ava Hebensperger chipped in with a double and a triple, had three hits and three runs batted in.
Ryn McCormick had four hits, and three runs scored in the 15-hit attack.
Guthrie then beat El Reno for a second time on October 10, 11-0 in six innings as Savannah Ingle went the distance for the win.
Ingle, Gallo, Hebensperger, and Codi Hibbs each had two hits in the 11-hit attack. Hebensperger, Gallo, and Shephard had the home runs. Gallo and Duehning had a double each. Hebensperger and Shephard drove in three runs each.
This will be the third meeting of the year between Duncan and Guthrie. Guthrie won the two previous games, but the third time around is always the hardest to repeat.
Duncan is 27-11 while Guthrie is 25-9 this season.
A win versus Duncan will get them into the semifinals Friday afternoon against the winner of #2 Pryor and #7 Carl Albert.
Pryor beat Guthrie 4-0 back on August 12 in the second game of the year and Guthrie beat Carl Albert 6-3 on August 19.
