Guthrie JROTC Teams Shine at Mustang Bronco Showdown

On Saturday, February 22, our school teams participated in the Mustang Bronco Showdown, showcasing their skills in the Color Guard, Drill, Academic, and Raider events. The competition was fierce, but our students delivered impressive performances across the board.

The Drill, Color Guard, and Male Raider teams all performed admirably, but it was the Lady Raiders who stole the spotlight by placing 1st overall in their event. Additionally, the Academic Team earned a strong 2nd-place finish, proving the versatility and talent of our students.

In the Raider competition, each team was made up of 5 members who completed a series of grueling challenges. These included a 20-repetition deadlift (90 lbs. for males and 75 lbs. for females), a 50-meter sprint, a 50-meter weight drag (90 lbs. for males and 70 lbs. for females), a 50-meter lateral move, a 50-meter dumbbell carry (2 x 40 lbs. for males and 2 x 30 lbs. for females), and another 50-meter sprint.

Meanwhile, the Color Guard and Drill teams faced their own challenging tasks, performing a set of synchronized and precise maneuvers in a confined space. These routines require a high level of teamwork and precision, which the students delivered in spectacular fashion.

The Academic competition tested knowledge with a 40-question, timed test covering U.S. and military history, government, and civics. Our academic team rose to the occasion, earning a well-deserved 2nd-place finish.
