William “Bill” Leroy Jones, age 83 of Guthrie, Oklahoma passed away on September 16, 2021, in Oklahoma City. He was born on February 7, 1938, in Guthrie on his family’s farm to John Leroy and Doris Fern (Kimball) Jones.
Bill lived in Guthrie his whole life. He retired from Oklahoma Natural Gas Company after working as a service representative for 37 years.
Bill was an original member of Community Church in Guthrie. He was very active in many clubs and organizations throughout his life including: 4-H, Round Up Club, the Moto-Guzi Club, the Gold Wing Club, the Territorial Trail Riders Wagon Train Group, and the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed his mules, plowing his garden with his mules, and making leather equine harnesses.
Survivors include his children Barbara Ruth Staggs and husband Virgil and Shawn Jones and wife Sharman; siblings Charles Jones and wife Rosa Lee and Fern Vaughn; grandchildren Joshua and wife Shauna, Rebecca and husband Jerimy, Shayla, John, and Rachel; seven great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his special friend Patsy Clay and her wonderful family. Bill was preceded in death by his parents John and Doris Jones, wife Ruth (Mott) Jones in 2001, and wife Geraldine (Breedlove) Jones in 2012.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at 10:00 A.M. at Community Church with Pastor Bill Williams officiating. Burial followed at Summit View Cemetery.
Services were under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that memorials be made to Community Church in honor of Bill.
