Scott Wesley McCann, 67, passed away May 9, 2024, due to the complications of quadriplegia that he faced courageously for eight months.
Scott was born in Des Moines, Iowa, on April 23, 1957, to George and Evelyn (Miller) McCann. He grew up in Towson, Maryland and Rockford, Illinois, and attended Frostburg College (now University) in Maryland. He spent most of his adult years in California and Montana, and his last four years in Guthrie, Oklahoma. Scott and his longtime girlfriend Janna were anticipating an extended trip west and marriage when Scott suffered a tragic injury that changed his life.
Scott was an amazingly gifted individual with a wide range of talents. He was an artist, musician, designer and engineer, entrepreneur, finish carpenter, landscaper, mechanic, nutritionist, collector, and creative free-thinker. Notwithstanding his many endeavors, he left time to enjoy a full life with friends and family, hobbies, helping others, and exploring new places and ideas.
Scott is preceded in death by his parents and brother Brent.
He is survived by his brother Clifton McCann (Marcia) of Gaithersburg, Maryland, sisters Karen Weber (Joe) and Carol Baker of The Villages, Florida, devoted girlfriend Janna Shaffer of Guthrie, nephews and nieces Chris Neilson (Tracy) of Perry Hall, Maryland, Tim Neilsen (Kristen) of Charlotte, Vermont, Greg McCann of Washington, DC, and Jeanna McCann of Gaithersburg, Maryland, and a host of other beloved family and friends.
