Melvin Louis Stone, age 92 of Guthrie, Oklahoma passed away on September 15, 2021. Melvin was born on March 15, 1929 in Cashion, Oklahoma to Clayton and Iva (Redmond) Stone.
Melvin lived in Logan County all of his life. On November 29, 1947 he married Mary Griffin in Navina, Oklahoma. They celebrated 73 years of marriage together and to this union six children were born: Marvin, Kenneth, Wanda, Myra, Donna, and Linda.
Melvin retired from Tinker Air Force Base in 1988 where he had worked as a Project Administrator Officer for 41 years.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, the Boy Scouts of America, and coached little league baseball for many years.
Survivors include his wife Mary of the home, son Marvin Stone and wife Elaine, son Kenneth Stone and wife Sue, daughter Wanda Calvert and husband Mike, daughter Myra Richardson, and daughter Donna Miller and husband Billy. Melvin is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Clayton Stone and Iva Chandler, daughter Linda Nelson, son-in-law David Nelson, son-in-law Rodney Richardson, and grandson Austin Richardson.
Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, September 20, 2021 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. James Wickersham officiating. Burial followed at Cashion Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.
