Harold Andrew Flasch 1924-2025

Harold Andrew Flasch, 101, a lifelong resident of a farm near Coyle, Oklahoma, was born May 22, 1924, and passed away December 24, 2025, at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

He was the youngest of seven children born to John and Julia (Hacker) Flasch. Harold was raised in the Lutheran faith and was a longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church in Guthrie, Oklahoma. He graduated as Salutatorian from Coyle Public School in 1941 and served one year in the U.S. Army Signal Corps in California during World War II.

After military service, Harold returned to farming near the Cimarron River, raising wheat and cattle. He studied Animal Husbandry at Oklahoma State University and also served for 20 years as a substitute rural mail carrier. He married Neva Joy Childers on July 15, 1956. Joy taught at nearby Langston University for over 30 years. They were married almost 70 years and were a great team.

Harold had a lifelong love of sports, playing baseball and softball well into his senior years, and he enjoyed attending Coyle school sporting events with his family. He also enjoyed watching his grandson, Ryan, coach the Coyle boys basketball teams. He loved watching the OKC Thunder team and also loved playing pinochle with family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Julia Flasch; brothers, John A., Otto, and Herman Flasch; and sisters, Hilda Kaiser, Bertha Nobbe, and Minnie Flasch.

He is survived by his wife, Joy Flasch; children, Chris Flasch (Brenda), Julie Weathers (M. Shane), and Jeanine Cory (Nick); and his grandchildren, Jordan (Myrthe), and Lindsay Flasch, Ryan (Tara), Jared (Dusty), and Brendon Weathers, and Anna Joy and Luke Cory. He is also survived by his greatgrandchildren, Otto, Ike, and Lucia Flasch (children of Jordan and Myrthe), and Kyler and Jordyn (children of Ryan and Tara), and Scotty Joy Weathers (daughter of Jared and Dusty).

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, December 31, 2025 at Zion Lutheran Church located at 424 East Warner Avenue in Guthrie. Interment will follow at Coyle Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, 220 North 1st Street, Guthrie, Oklahoma 73044.

Viewing will be held Tuesday, December 30, 2025 from 3:00 P.M. - 6:00 P.M. at Smith-Gallo Funeral Home.
