1955-2024
The beautiful soul of Connie Elaine (Frantz) Bassett, 68, of Guthrie, Oklahoma, entered this life on October 15, 1955 and returned to her home in Heaven on June 24, 2024. Born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Billy Joe and Leoma (Hoelscher) Frantz, most of her life was spent in the countryside of rural Guthrie with husband, Charles Bassett.
Connie was married to Charles Bassett on April 11, 1985. She spent her early career as a respiratory therapist and the rest of her career a dedicated homemaker. But home was not just one place - home was wherever Connie was.
Her love for family spilled on the pages of her artful prose and poetry. She loved to journal and fill-in crosswords, but above all, she loved being with family. Whether helping with the next generation of “littles”, or meeting with cousins at the Hoelscher Luncheon, Connie was there with a hug, an ear to listen, or words of wisdom, but most often, all of the above.
Connie is preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Billy Ray Frantz and Gary Gene Frantz.
She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Charles; sisters, Glenda Lea Armstrong and husband, Gary and Karen Annette Cramer and husband, Jonathan; children, Kevin Bassett,
Connie Elaine Bassett
Gary Miller and wife, Erica, Valerie Leach and husband, Jason, Shelly Harrison, and Daniel Bassett and wife, Christina; bonus children, Alicia and John Frantz; grandchildren, Sonya, Wyatt, Raven, William, Devyn, Lily, Holly, Parker, Bridget, Stetson, and Clayton; and great-grandchildren, Delilah, Drew, Kingston, and Clint.
Connie’s family goes far beyond what we can include in so few words. Whether you called her Mom, Grandma, Aunt, Sister, Cousin, or Friend, the title didn’t matter, what mattered is that you held a special place in her heart.
The void of her absence will be forever with us, but not without the love she instilled in each and every one of us.
Memorial services for Connie will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at Smith Memorial Chapel. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.
