Enrollment growth, Jelsma Stadium lighting among topics at BOE meeting

Guthrie’s Board of Education on Monday was updated on school enrollment figures, the Charter Oak expansion timeline and new lighting at Jelsma Stadium among the major points of interest.

“We’ve had a very smooth start to the school year,” Superintendent Dr. Mike Simspon said. “We currently have 3,523 students enrolled in the district, which is 19 more than last year. We’re also expecting a few new enrollees that have been accepted on transfers into the district as well.”

Simpson said the completion date for the Charter Oak expansion has been accelerated.
