Dueling Axes of Guthrie Aims to be Area's New 'Rage'

Residents of Guthrie now have a new venue for entertainment and stress relief with the opening of Dueling Axes of Guthrie.

The establishment at 410 Sigma Place, which officially opened May 9, allows patrons to channel their inner lumberjack or vent frustrations by smashing objects in the Rage Room.

The venue features five ax-throwing lanes, two rage rooms and a children’s play area. The rage rooms are stocked with bats and crowbars for smashing electronics, glassware, washing machines, dryers, and more.

“The Rage Room is exhilarating!” said Brittany Timmons, President/ CEO of the Guthrie Chamber of Commerce.

“It’s another new business in town, and it gives people something different to do,” said Steven Haga, who attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Dueling Axes is the brainchild of Rick and Jennifer, both employees of the County Sheriff ’s Department, and their friends Chris and Sandy. After visiting several axthrowing venues, Rick built a target board for backyard gatherings.

He and Chris then decided to turn that hobby into a business. The four founders say they want to offer an affordable, family-friendly entertainment option for Guthrie residents.

Hourly private-party rates are available, and custom packages can be arranged. Management has applied to the Oklahoma ABLE (Alcoholic Beverage Laws Enforcement) Commission for its license and is awaiting approval. In addition, there is a jukebox and pool tables for their patrons.

A “Hero Wall” near the entrance displays photos honoring local military personnel and first responders.

Dueling Axes hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 3 p.m. to 10 p.m.; it is closed Sunday and Monday. Ax throwing (ages 16 and up) is $25 for 60 minutes. Rage Room sessions (10-item basket) are $25 for 30 minutes.
