Guthrie softball players awarded All-State belts

A trio of Guthrie softball athletes were bestowed 2024 Class 5A All-State belts by Prep Nation TV on Monday.

Senior Haley Gallo, sophomore Ryn McCormick and senior Kinley Duehning of the Lady Jays’ fast-pitch team were awarded their belts during Guthrie’s slow-pitch softball double header versus Yukon and Mustang. Gallo was honored as PNTV’s Class 5A Humm Babe Player of the Year and McCormick picked up the Slugger Award for top 5A offensive hitter.

All three players made the 5A All-State team after helping lead Guthrie to a 25-11 record and a state quarterfinal appearance in 2024.

Gallo, who is signed to play college softball at UCO next spring, was also named to the 2024 Oklahoma Fast-Pitch Softball Coaches Association All-State team as one of three outfielders on the Large West team. She ended her final season with a fielding percentage of .986 with 67 putouts and just one error, as well as 63 RBIs and 12 home runs on the plate.

McCormick is a sophomore catcher and utility player who earned the Slugger Award after a 54-hit season in which she finished with a batting average of .470 and an on-base percentage of .516. She was also picked as All-Region Second Team second baseman by the National Fast-Pitch Coaches Association.

Duehning was named to PNTV’s 5A All-State team following an impressive season as Guthrie’s ace pitcher. She has been the Lady Jays’ starting pitcher the last two years (including the team’s state runner-up 2023 season) and is signed to play for Rose State College in Midwest City.
