Richard Henry Beesley

Richard Henry Beesley, of Edmond, OK, was born October 25, 1937 in Los Angeles, CA to Robert Edward and Lillian Irene (Wolberg) Beesley and passed away quietly at Integris Hospital in Edmond, OK on Monday, April 24, 2023 at age 85 after several weeks of illness.

He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, serving 4 years on the carrier USS Bon Homme Richard as a radarman. He retired from the United States Postal Service after 27 years.

Richard was a man of intelligence, integrity, quick wit, love of life, a ready laugh and a wide variety of interests including speed skating (roller), fishing, backpacking, hiking, and camping. He also loved all kinds of music, especially bluegrass, playing board games, vintage cars and street rods, and vintage toys, especially Star Wars. He and his loving wife of 53 years, Sandy were a perfect match and made for each other. Richard was a kid at heart and all who knew him will miss him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Lillian; his 20 month old son, “Dickie”; and his beloved mother-in-law, Dee Fernandez.

Richard is survived by his loving wife, Sandy and Sandy’s extended family who loved him deeply.

Memorial services for Richard will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, May 15, 2023 at Smith Memorial Chapel. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.

There will not be any visitation.
