Gov. Stitt calls for special election for County Commission

Gov. Kevin Stitt has called for a special election to be held following the resignation of Logan County District 2 Commissioner Kody Ellis, who resigned Tuesday.

The resignation comes amidst an investigation for possible embezzlement.

“I just want everybody to know that I will be filing a formal resignation,” Ellis said in a Feb. 15 Commission meeting. “I appreciate everything that everybody has done. I just want to apologize.”

The candidate filing period for the special election will be March 13, 14 and 15 at the Logan County Election Board, 224 E Vilas.

The special primary election will be held on Tuesday, June 13, and the special general election will be held Tuesday, Sept. 12, if needed.
