Lady Bluejays rout Lady Knights 54-13

By Mike Monahan The Guthrie Lady Bluejays basketball team won their third game in a row on December 13 routing an outmanned Northwest Classen Lady Knights 5413 to improve to 3-2 on the year. Guthrie traveled to Washington (6-0, #4 in Class 3A) last night to play a make-up game caused by the cancellation with Millwood at the beginning of the year.

The game was never close as the Lady Bluejays led 22-3 after the first quarter and 36-4 at the half. The game was played with a running clock most of the final two quarters. Anjewl Murillo led the way with 12 points and played only in the first two quarters of the game. Braydin Russell chipped in with ten points. Mariah Dightman had nine points in three quarters of action. Alyana Wallace, Ania Morgan, Denise Doolittle, Peyton Read, and Kynlee Smedley closed out the scoring for the Lady Bluejays as all 11 players on the roster saw action in the game.

The Lady Bluejays will travel to the Noble Tournament on January 5-7 and the Kingfisher Tournament on January 19-21, while traveling to El Reno (5-2) and Shawnee (3-5) on January 13 and 17.

The team returns home January 24 to face Ponca City (2-6), where they will play eight of their last ten games in Guthrie.
