Oklahoma Highway Patrol was requested to assist Guthrie Fire at approximately 1:30pm yesterday in response to a reported watercraft crash at Guthrie Country Club Lake. Trooper Eric Foster of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol confirms that three persons were reported as missing, as well as the craft itself.
Foster stated that OHP immediately brought in their Water Unit and Dive Team to work on search efforts. The teams used side-scan sonar to identify anomalies in the water. These anomalies were then marked and searched, and the Dive Team was able to find and recover the bodies of three deceased males.
Search efforts continued for the missing craft itself, but the search teams were unable to proceed with their efforts after sunset. Both teams resumed their work this morning and they were able to recover the watercraft from the lake.
Identification of the victims is being withheld at this time, pending notification of relatives. Guthrie News Leader will provide additional updates to this story as they become available.
