city, and let these two districts contract with whatever other agency they (want to) do.”

Channel said there are 22 housing additions planned in Logan County over the next two years, with 1,900 new homes expected to be built.

He said responding to EMS calls outside of city limits, often on unpaved roads, has been causing wear and tear on the city’s EMS vehicles.

“That’s what wears our vehicles out, and it is what ties our (EMS) guys up for hours and hours (responding to) those calls,” he said.

TheCouncilapproveda renewal of a contract with UnitedHealth to provide medical, dental and vision; and a new contract with Standard Life to provide life, accidental death/dismemberment (AD&D) insurance coverage for City employees for Fiscal Year 2023.

“United HealthCare continues to be the best option for our employees this next fiscal year,” said Liz Botello, Human Resources Director for the City of Guthrie. “The City will be providing an additional $25,000 accident death or dismemberment benefit (through Standard Life) to our first responders at no additional cost to the City.”

In other matters, the Council confirmed the appointment of Brent Linford to the Guthrie Planning Commission to fill an unexpired term through March 31, 2024; approved a Hangar Property Lease Agreement with RGroup, Inc., to lease Hangar Site No. 23 C for a total of 17,825 square feet to build a 10,000 square foot hangar. RGroup will lease the hangar site for $3,921.50 annually for 30 years, with two five-year options.

The Council approved a renewal of the Honor Park Lease Agreement between the City of Guthrie and the American Legion for $1 per year during the term of the lease.

The American Legion has leased and maintained the Honor Park, located at the corner of Harrison Avenue and Second Street, since March of 2009.

The Council approved the Civil Defense Siren Maintenance Agreement between the City of Guthrie and Goddard Enterprises. The agreement is a renewal for one year beginning Oct.1, 2022 through Sept. 30, 2023, at a cost of $4,400 for Fiscal Year 2023.

The Council approved an agreement between the City of Guthrie and Logan Community Services, Inc. for temporary shelter care for juveniles. The agreement is for $1,500 for Fiscal Year 2023, and runs from Oct. 1, 2022 through Sept. 30, 2023.

Council members approved a Cooperative Services Field Agreement between the City of Guthrie/Guthrie Edmond Regional Airport and the U.S. Department of Agriculture/Wildlife Services for removal of deer, coyotes, and other nuisance wildlife threatening aircraft and human health on the airport property. The airport will contract with the USDA to assist in wildlife mitigation when required for an annual rate of $800.
