The 2022 Guthrie Homecoming Game and Parade is this Friday, September 9th. This year promises to be an incredibly exciting celebration for Bluejay fans of all ages. The theme for 2022 is “Decades.”
The High School will have dress-up days for the students all week. Today is Dress Your Best Day; Thursday is Twin Day; and Friday is Blue Out or Homecoming Shirt Day. Guthrie Junior High Students are encouraged to dress-up for Homecoming Week, as well: today, Wednesday is Team Jersey / Sport Day; Thursday is USA Day; and Friday is Guthrie Spirit Day.
The Homecoming celebration begins first thing Friday morning. All Bluejay alumni are invited to the High School for a 9:00 a.m. assembly. Check-in begins at 8:30 a.m. The Honor Class this year is the Class of 1972. The high school students’ Homecoming Assembly will follow at 11:00 a.m.
The 2022 Guthrie Homecoming Parade will begin at 3:00 p.m., and it will travel down Main Street from the Masonic Temple. Traffic will be blocked for multiple events, so it is advisable to arrive early to find the best parking. Classes for Guthrie Public Schools will dismiss at 2:10 p.m. so that students may attend the parade. The Football Booster Club tailgating party with hamburgers and all the fixings starts around 5 p.m. Donations are $5 for a good burger.
The Guthrie Bluejays (2-0) will take on the Duncan Demons (0-1) in the 2022 Guthrie High School Homecoming game Friday at 7:00 p.m. at Jelsma Stadium. Tickets are $10, and football fans are encouraged to come ready to cheer for Big Blue. Coronation ceremonies for the Homecoming Royalty will take place at Jelsma Stadium at 6:30 p.m., before the start of the football game.
This year’s Homecoming celebration will include several class reunions - classes 2012, 2002, 1997, 1992, 1987, and the 70-year class reunion for the class of 1952. Class alumni who are planning to ride on floats during the Homecoming Parade should meet at the Scottish Rite Temple at 2:00 p.m. For more information on events for class reunions happening this weekend, go to: guthrieps. net and choose “Information” from the drop down top menu. There will be a number of football game after parties at establishments throughout the Guthrie Downtown area. Some will be private parties for class reunion alumni. Others will be open to the public
