Valerie Ann Cotton

Valerie Ann Cotton, age 69, passed away on July 30, 2022, at her home in Coyle, Oklahoma. She was born on January 7, 1953, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Devalson Barnett Wheeler and Mildred Carolyn (Episcopo) Wheeler.

Valerie had lived in Guthrie since 1976 and previously lived in Oklahoma City. She married Mitchell L. Cotton on November 26, 1977, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Guthrie where she was a member and served in Catholic Daughters. Valerie was the Director of Angel Fire Equestrian Center, a nonprofit therapy program for children.

Survivors include her husband Mitchell Cotton of the home in Coyle, son Eric Cotton and wife Amber of Edmond, daughter Ashley DeLorme of Stillwater and sister Mary Ethyl Wheeler of Norman. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Elise, Owen, Claire, Emma and Dillon and numerous cousins. Valerie was preceded in death by her parents.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, August 4, 2022, at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. James Wickersham officiating. A Rosary will be held at 9:15 A.M. before the service. Burial will be at 2:30 P.M. at Lehigh Cemetery in Lehigh, Oklahoma. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 1:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. with family greeting friends from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Services are under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorials made to St. Mary Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters or Birth Choice of Oklahoma.
