Reports are coming in from East Glacier Park, Montana that Sunday around 9 p.m. Derick Amos Alan Madden purposely drove a vehicle into a Central New York family not far from Glacier National Park. Madden then got out of his crashed truck and started shooting at the family with a shotgun. Madden killed the dad, David Siau and his baby girl McKenzie, as well as critically injured the mom Christy Siau and her sister Christina Siau, police said Tuesday night.
Madden had attacked Christina with a knife, who fought back, killing Madden at the scene, according to the Glacier County Sheriff ’s Office. The Siau family’s other two children were able to run away and were not injured, police said.
David died at the scene while McKenzie, Christy and Christina were rushed to Indian Health Services in Browning, about 13 miles away. McKenzie was declared dead there.
Christy and Christina, who were critically injured in the attack, were airlifted to another hospital for more care.
Madden, who is reported to have had mental health issues, is believed to have had a previous relationship with Christina, police said. A graduate of Guthrie High School in 2003, Madden has shaken the multiple communities involved in the incident.
The brutal killing of David and McKenzie may have been over 1500 miles away in a different state, but the effect ripples across the country.
