Guthrie Man Killed in OKC Collision

A Guthrie man died in an accident Oct. 29 at around 6:30 a.m. on Interstate 40 eastbound, just west of Peebly Road in Oklahoma City.

Jake Sing, 23, of Guthrie was transported by EMSA to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City. He was pronounced dead at the hospital by medical officials due to head, internal trunk, arm and leg injuries.

The driver of the second vehicle, Billy Byrd, of Porum, Oklahoma transported himself to St. Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City where he was treated and released.

According to the OHP Central Regional Communications Center report, an unoccupied 2005 Subaru Outback was parked on the right shoulder when Sings vehicle departed the roadway for an unknown reason, striking the unoccupied vehicle and coming to rest in the right lane facing north.

Byrd’s vehicle then struck Sing’s vehicle on the driver’s side. Sing was pinned for an unknown amount of time before being extricated by the OKC Fire Department.

The report indicates the cause for the collision remains under investigation. The scene was investigated by Trooper Moler (#748) of the Oklahoma/Logan County Detachment of Troop A. Assisted by Trooper Miller (#950), Trooper Lipe (#925), Trooper Karlin (#422), and Lt. Schneider (#179) of Troop A, Trooper Ballard (#249) of the Traffic Homicide Unit, Oklahoma City Fire Department and EMSA.
