Catherine Irene Nail Turner, Nee’ Carson, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on July 7th, 2021. Catherine was born March 22nd, 1938, in Guthrie Oklahoma to Robert and Gertie Carson. She was the youngest of three siblings including Ardyth Dunsworth and Gary Carson.
She attended Guthrie Public Schools. Catherine married Vernon S. Nail, also of Guthrie, July 31st, 1955. Catherine and Vernon were blessed with two children. Michael Jan, born in 1956 and Kevin Lewis in 1961. Catherine was a lifelong nurse working for a number of different doctors along the way developing a reputation for professional excellence in her chosen field. She was widowed in 1989. She married Raymond Turner of Edmond in 1996 and together, they established a home in Guthrie. With this union she received a stepdaughter Teri Smith and two step granddaughters. She was again widowed in 2015.
Catherine very much enjoyed playing Bridge with her friends, Marilyn Branch, Marilyn Carroll, D.R. Knight, Joann Hood, Clair Gatewood and Shirley Powell. She was the life of any gathering with her trademark, selfdeprecating humor and quick wit. She always had a joke teed up and ready at the right moment. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi, The Women’s Golf Association at The Guthrie Golf and Country Club as well as The Guthrie Garden Club.
Catherine is survived by her siblings Ardyth Dunsworth of Hamilton, Ohio and Gary Carson of Texas. Closer to home, she is survived by her children Jan and husband Doyle Webb, and Kevin and wife Lori Nail of Guthrie as well as six grandchildren and eight greatgrandchildren. She is also survived by her very special friend Marlys Antonoff of Kansas City, Kansas.
We will miss her humor and wit and admire her determination and grit as well as her grace, class and dignity. Catherine was, and still is, a role model for her family and those who knew and loved her. She will be greatly missed. We know there is a new Bridge game in progress once again!
