Adult and Child Safe After Kidnapping Incident

06/24/2021 at about 15:11 pm hours the Logan County Sheriff’s Office responded to a missing persons report in the area of Crescent, Oklahoma. During the call for service, we learned that an adult female and juvenile toddler could be in danger. The circumstances of the missing adult and juvenile was discovered to be with a separated domestic partner/legal parent and the following suspicious details were discovered:


1. Black bag of rope, tape and zip ties
2. Important items for basic needs of family and child left behind
3. Did not report to a known scheduled event


Due to the suspicious in nature circumstances we issued an attempt to locate of missing person(s) to conduct a welfare check of missing adult and child. Texas law enforcement did locate the vehicle and occupants outside of Corpus Christi, TX. Where a police pursuit ensued ending at a locate Mexican Restaurant. The adult victim ran to the safety of Law Enforcement, while the Suspect Joshua Wallin W/M 29 years of age took his child hostage inside the restaurant. Suspect Wallin made several statements of possibly having explosives inside his vehicle during the intense hostage incident additionally possessed a firearm.


Once we learned about the incident in Texas, LCSO Deputies immediately elevated our missing persons report to possible kidnapping investigation. At about 17:49 pm hours Deputies requested a search warrant of Wallin’s residence in Guthrie, OK.

Due to the concerns of explosives; Edmond Police Department and Oklahoma Highway Patrol’s bomb squad was requested to assist us with the execution of the search warrant. We confirmed that no explosive items or ingredients were located all other items seized are currently under investigation.


Both the Adult and Child are confirmed to be safe. The suspect is reported to be in critical condition in a Texas hospital with injuries from a self-inflicted gun shot wound. Joshua Wallin has been federally charged and media information can be located at PACER:

The Victim and Family Members have expressed their gratitude for the community’s support and all of the law enforcement’s help. They currently are requesting privacy and do not wish to make a comment to the media. They ask that you “keep them in your thoughts and prayers at this time.”


LCSO and FBI are working together, and no further comments can be made at this time due to on going investigation.
