Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt visits Guthrie

Oklahoma’s top public official paid a visit to the state’s original capital Thursday.

Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt said he loves getting out into the community and tries to come to different parts of the state once a week. This week he chose Guthrie.

His detailed itinerary consisted of touring the State Capital Publishing Museum, visiting with the Oklahoma Quarter Horse Association, meeting with business leaders over the lunch hour, and filming a video to help promote the publishing museum.

“The american quarter horse president just grabbed me, pulled me aside and thanked me for keeping Oklahoma open because in November they had their national show here, so there’s something like 35 people from around the country that are right here in basically Guthrie so it’s a huge deal for Oklahoma,” Stitt said.

Stitt said his favorite part of Guthrie is downtown.

“The historic nature of Guthrie is just really cool. Y’all have a cool community,” Stitt said.

There is a chance Stitt could be coming around Guthrie much more often, as he sounded optimistic about its future.

“(It being) right off (I-35), I could just see this being really a growth area for the future, being in proximity to all the workforce in Oklahoma City et cetera. We got this on our eye for commerce,” Stitt said.
