Guthrie Track Team Competes in Ardmore for State Championships

Both Guthrie High School Track teams competed in Ardmore in the OSSAA 5A State Championships on May 15.

Ilaria Pastena, a sophomore, finished fourth in the Girls 100 Meter Dash, posting a time of 12.58 in the finals.

Freshman athlete Hannah Smith finished 16th in the Girls 1600 Meter Run for class 5A.

Sophomore runner Cheyenne Gaymon finished eighth in the Girls 100 Meter Hurdles Class for 5A. She also finished sixth in the 300 Meter hurdles.

Brooklyn Toomey scored an 8-00.00 on her finals attempt in Pole Vaulting.

The team also competed in relay races of 4x100 meters, 4x200 meters and 4x800 meters.

Alyana Wallace managed a 4-08.00 in the High Jump class 5A Finals.

For the boys, Junior runner Mason Tilley qualified for the finals in the 100-meter dash, while Mason Barney and Mason Mayer competed in the 1600 Meter Class for 5A.

Barney also finished fifth in the Boys 3200 Meter Run Class.

Slade Roberts, a senior, placed sixth in Pole Vaulting, reaching the mark of 11-00.00.

Sophomore Isaiah Hammons reached a 19- 06.50 length on his long jump, good for 10th in the state.

Kaden Ballardstevenson finished second in the Long Jump, with a finals measurement of 22-00.50 to get 8 points in the category. He also achieved a 6-02.00 height in the high jump.

Guthrie finished 10th in the Boy’s rankings and 18th in the Girls in 17 team events scored.
