The Logan County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a homicide in Logan County that happened on Sunday night. Colby Scruggs, 29 was being sought as the suspect in the case. Scruggs turned himself in to Logan County Sheriff Damon Devereaux late Monday afternoon at a residence of a family member. The deceased has been identified as Michael Dean Cole, 46, of Logan County.
Scruggs had been on the run since the shooting Sunday night. While all the details of what led up to the shooting are still being investigated as of Monday morning, the LCSO has executed several search warrants of Scruggs’ house and of Cole’s house. No weapon has been recovered yet.
Scruggs has a lengthy felony record in the county that goes back to 2010 with four different felony convictions on multiple charges.
The LCSO has turned in various affidavits to the courts but they have not been released yet. Scruggs is currently in the Logan County Detention Center and no initial court date is available as of press time. No Bond has been set.
