Guthrie, Oklahoma – The Guthrie-Edmond Regional Airport is pleased to announce the completion of its
Taxiway Realignment and Lighting Project, a major $5.7 million infrastructure project primarily funded
through a combination of federal and state grants.
The project involved the reconstruction and realignment of approximately 3,750 feet of parallel taxiway to meet
current Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) design standards. “This project is a significant investment in the
future of GOK”, said Airport Director Caden Young. “For more than two decades, the airport operated with a
taxiway configuration that did not meet federal design standards. Through strong partnerships with the FAA,
the Oklahoma Department of Aerospace and Aeronautics (ODAA), and the cities of Guthrie and Edmond, we
were able to deliver a project that will benefit airport users for decades to come.”
Construction was completed by Contech, Inc. with engineering and design services provided by Parkhill. The
project was completed through a phased construction approach designed to minimize impacts on airport users
while maintaining safe operations through construction.
“GOK continues to serve as a critical transportation asset and economic driver for our region. We appreciate the
partnership of the FAA, ODAA, Parkhill, and the many stakeholders who helped make this project possible”
said Guthrie City Manager Eddie Faulkner.
As part of this project, the first stage of the future terminal apron was completed so that future construction
would not require closures of the taxiway. Construction on the new terminal and terminal apron will begin later
this Fall.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate this project’s completion will take place on Tuesday, June 30th at
Hangar #2.
