City Council Approves Funding for Emergency Water Main Repairs

Guthrie’s City Council on Tuesday adopted a resolution declaring that an emergency exists within the meaning of the Public Competitive Bidding Act as a result of damage to a Cottonwood Creek water main, which provides water to the west side of town.

This coming Sunday, May 18th, Guthrie will bid farewell to a longtime educator who passed away on May 6, 2025.On Monday, May 5th, a silver alert was issued for Earl Ray Sykes, 73, on behalf of the Logan County Sheriff’s Department.

Permit wording change heads to City Council

Guthrie’s Planning Commission approved a request to amend an existing Special Use Permit to eliminate Condition No. 4, which states “No receptions, meetings, parties, etc. are allowed” for a bed and breakfast located at 201 North 13th Street.

Family Fun and Safety Fair Returns to Guthrie on May 18

The Touch the Trucks: Family Fun and Safety Fair is set to return Sunday, May 18, from noon to 3 p.m. at Meridian Technology Center, located on South Division Street.The free, family-oriented event features a blend of indoor and outdoor activities designed for all ages.

Dueling Axes of Guthrie Aims to be Area's New 'Rage'

Residents of Guthrie now have a new venue for entertainment and stress relief with the opening of Dueling Axes of Guthrie.The establishment at 410 Sigma Place, which officially opened May 9, allows patrons to channel their inner lumberjack or vent frustrations by smashing objects in the Rage Room.

Guthrie Rotary Student of the Week

The Guthrie Rotary Club Student of the Week is Rylee Tobin. She is the daughter of Brad and Holly Tobin. Rylee is active in tennis, FFA, National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta and the Science Club. Recently she and her doubles partner placed 5th at State, the only public school team on the podium.
