City of Guthrie Secures Supplemental Funding for Owen Field Youth Complex

The City of Guthrie is proud to announce that the National Park Service, in partnership with the Oklahoma Tourism & Recreation Department, has approved the City’s request for supplemental funding to support the construction of Phase 1A of the Owen Field Youth Sports Complex.

After a decade at Guthrie’s Lazy E Arena, the National Little Britches Rodeo Association is pulling up stakes and heading south.Beginning in 2026, the association’s National Finals will move to the new OG&E Arena at the Oklahoma State Fairgrounds in Oklahoma City.

Plans to build a new community pool are on hold while a private group tries to raise enough money to offset the city’s cost.The City Council voted unanimously July 1 to give the group 30 days to raise between $800,000 and $1.5 million that it would take to fund two different versions of the project.
