Mercy Breaks Ground on New Love Family Women’s Center

OKLAHOMA CITY (July 15, 2021) – A new building to serve women is under construction on the campus of Mercy Hospital Oklahoma City. The hospital’s labor and delivery and postpartum services have been at capacity for years, limiting Mercy’s ability to serve more patients.
The Meinders Event Lawn & Garden, made possible by a generous donation from Herman and LaDonna Meinders, will include walking paths, an event lawn and a butterfly garden.

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – In a sunny Tuesday morning ceremony, National Cowboy Museum president, board members and supporters broke ground on the newest phase of Museum expansions, the Meinders Event Lawn & Garden and additional parking structures.

Janice Francis-Smith to headline Elm Tree Concert at Arcadia Round Barn

ARCADIA – Oklahoma City singer-songwriter Janice Francis-Smith will present an Elm Tree Concert at noon Sunday, July 25, beneath the giant elm tree on the north side of the Arcadia Round Barn. Blending folk, jazz-pop and country, Francis-Smith tackles real life with warmth, humor and honesty.
This is a free event and dinner will be provided. The dinner will be sponsored by Bedlam Bar-B-Q.

OSU Extension Offers “Vendor Resource Fair”

Oklahoma County OSU Extension is holding an event titled “Farmers Market Vendor Resource Fair”. This event will be held at the OSU Extension Conference Center, 2500 N.E. 63rd Street, Oklahoma City, OK on Thursday, July 22nd, 2021 from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm.

Art Burton to bring Cherokee Bill to life at Arcadia Round Barn

ARCADIA – Outlaws were once very popular in Oklahoma, says historian Art Burton, and the most famous bad guy of the Indian Territory era was Crawford Goldsby, otherwise known as Cherokee Bill. “He’s little-known today, but he was more of a classic outlaw than Billy the Kid,” Burton said.

A Tribute to Byron Berline

The passing of Byron Berline, renowned fiddle player and friend to many, brought great sadness to the Guthrie community this week. Berline conceived of, and founded, Oklahoma’s International Bluegrass Festival 26 years ago. He passed away July 10 at age 77.
