We’re now just over halfway through the 2023 legislative session. More than 400 bills made it all the way through the Senate, and nearly 480 made it through the House.

Guthrie softball 8-8 after edging Cushing

Mother Nature may have stalled Monday night’s softball game in the fifth inning, but Guthrie High’s Lady Bluejays weathered the rain and lightning delay to edge Cushing 12-10, pouring on 15 hits in the process. The victory evened Guthrie’s record at 8-8 heading into Thursday’s game at Perkins-Tryon.

Guthrie track teams double up in meets

Guthrie High’s track and field teams competed at the Bison Invitational in Shawnee and at the Carl Albert Invitational last week. In the Shawnee meet, the girls finished third with 82.5 points, while the boys were fifth with 56.5. Mostly, the distance runners competed in the Carl Albert meet.

Blue Jays Struggle at Duncan Tourney

Guthrie High’s varsity baseball team struggled at this weekend’s Duncan baseball tournament, losing two of their three games. Both losses came on walk-off plays in the bottom of the last inning.

Triplett murder trial to start Monday; court cases piling up

The murder trial for Guthrie resident Daniel Triplett, 68, is scheduled to start Monday, April 17 in District Judge Phillip Corley’s courtroom. Triplett is facing a first degree murder charge and a desecration of a human corpse charge in the death of Brent Mack in September, 2021.
