Guthrie veteran’s wood workshops, flags honor military troops

When he’s not hitting golf balls, fishing or playing with his black lab service dog, Andi, one of Guthrie’s disabled veterans has made a name for himself by designing, producing and selling thousands of wooden flags to honor veterans across the country.

Guthrie Chamber hosts $1000 Giveaway

The Guthrie Chamber of Commerce completed a successful giveaway contest on September 1, seeing 19-year-old Guthrie alum Logan Hand receive the $1000 prize in the final drawing that was streamed live online through Facebook.

Guthrie Rotary student of the week

The Guthrie Rotary Club Student of the Week is Abbie Eichler. She is the daughter of Milynda and Bryan Eichler. Abbie is active in fast pitch and slow pitch softball, National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta Math Club.

National POW/MIA Recognition Day

The National POW/ MIA Recognition Day was estaablished in 1979 as a day to remember those service members who are either a prisoner of war (POW) or missing in action (MIA) and is not associated with any particular war.

Corrections

In the August 9th edition of the Guthrie News Leader there were a couple of errors that need to be clarified. In Community Corner, Battling Animal overpopulation with compassion, not cruelty, the article stated that Lisa New of Helping Paws and Claws, Inc.

Lady Bluejays improve to 13-4 with wins over Lawton Ike and El Reno

The week started with a 22-0 four inning rout and district win at Lawton Eisenhower and finished with a 7-6 nailbiter against El Reno on September 7 to improve to 13-4 on the season. The Lady Bluejays started the game with eight runs in the first inning and the rout was on.
