Central Oklahoma Camp’s Campfire Gala raised over $77,000 that will be put toward improving all camp programs in the future. The Camp’s “Make Promises Happen” program aims to give individuals with disabilities opportunities to participate in outdoor activities.

First Capital Trolley turns 35

City officials and even retired drivers were among the guests at last week’s celebration as the First Capital Trolley turned 35. The Dec. 19 open house also welcomed vendors and Oklahoma Department of Transportation officials to the facility on Airport Road.

Year End Review April

Dan Triplett was found guilty of first-degree murder and desecration of a human corpse. He was accused of murdering his own employee, Brent Mack, by shooting him in the chest in September 2021.

2023 Year End Review

Three Guthrie police officers were promoted to elevated positions by Chief Don Sweger in a ceremony held on Jan. 3. Jason Hamilton and Michael Schmit were each promoted to Lieutenant. Jonathan Williams was honored for his service as a School Resource Officer at Guthrie Public Schools.

Year End Review February

The Oklahoma Territorial Museum in Guthrie celebrated its 50th anniversary. The historical site was founded in 1973 after the museum and the Carnegie Library were conjoined into each other and features exhibits from Guthrie’s storied past, including outlaws, governors and prohibitionists.

Year End Review March

A former District 2 County Commissioner was indicted and arrested for embezzling fuel. Kody Ellis allegedly used public money to fuel his personal vehicles for a year-long period from July 2022 to July 2023. Ellis resigned from his position on Feb. 28 and his bond was set for $5,000.
