Car shows, races and familyfriendly activities will highlight the 2026 Oklahoma ’89er Days Celebration, April 15-18 in Guthrie as the community honors its role in the historic 1889 Land Run.
Among the featured events is the annual ’89er 5K, scheduled for 9:00 a.m. Sat, April 18, with a start and finish at Honor Park in downtown Guthrie near 301 W. Harrison Ave. The race is organized by cadets from the Guthrie High School JROTC program, the first of its kind in Oklahoma, established in 1935.
The 5K welcomes competitive runners, casual participants and walkers. Strollers and dogs are also permitted, making it a communitywide event. Proceeds from the race support student leadership and educational opportunities within the JROTC program.
This year’s race theme, “Boomtown,” celebrates Guthrie’s rapid growth during the Land Run era. To register, visit https://runsignup. com/Race/OK/Guthrie/FirstIn-StateFunRun.
Additional events throughout the celebration include a variety of automotive attractions and youth activities.
Geezers, Gassers & Hawgs, hosted by the Guthrie Rotary Club, will bring classic cars and motorcycles to downtown Guthrie from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, April 17, along Oklahoma and Broad streets.
The Guthrie Kiwanis Club will host a free Big Wheel race for children ages 3 to 7 at 5 p.m. that same day at Oklahoma and First streets, with registration available on site.
On Saturday, April 18, the Street Kings Car Club Car Show will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Logan County Fairgrounds. The event is free for both participants and spectators.
Also that weekend, The Truck Gathering will be held at Cottonwood Flats from noon to 6 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday. The two-day event includes a truck show, poker run, vendors and giveaways. Registration is $35 in advance or $50 on the day of the event for participants and free for spectators.
