Guthrie Senior Taking Over Pageant World

Approaching senior year in high school can be stressful enough, with the thought of college.

Guthrie High School senior, Avery Wooden, has more on her mind than just her fall semester. Wooden has recently placed for her second national title in the Our Diamond Miss pageants.

With this being her seventh total year in pageantry and second nationally awarded title, Wooden has both a talent and a passion for the pageant world.

The first nationally awarded title was in modeling two years ago and the second is for her singing talent for the song Vanilla Ice Cream from the musical “She Loves Me”.

“It’s my favorite song to sing,” Wooden said. “It is so bubbly and it really let’s my personality shine through.”

Having sung in choir since around first grade, singing is her chosen talent, as well as the one she enjoys the most.

Wooden’s own pageant family and pageant sisters’ have formed lifelong bonds, but it was her best friend who introduced her to the pageant world at 12. With the support of her friends and family Wooden has been wowing the pageant world since then.

“There are two different national competitions, one is a holiday pageant and the other is for the surrounding states,” Wooden said. “I prefer the national competition for the surrounding states.”

While Wooden is not sure of what the future holds just yet, there is a bright future. With her vocal talents, she has plans to sing in college, likely at the University of Central Oklahoma where she plans on getting her basics out of the way first.

“It is so worth it because I have such a good time,” Wooden said about pageant life. “It takes up a lot of my time, but I enjoy it, so it is worth it.”

With her responsibilities as a national title holder, Wooden does a lot of community service and especially loves working with the Hope House and the Animal Shelter. She will also get to queen the next title holder.

Wooden and her family want to say an extra thank you to all of her coaches, friends and family that have helped support her over the years.
