On April 15, 2022, at MD Helicopters in Mesa, AZ, John Blehm and Rex Gooch reunited at the Army Aviation Hall of Fame Ceremony and Tribute to the OH-6 Helicopter. Rex Gooch organized this event to present the Army Aviation Hall of Fame award to LTC Ace Cozzalio’s family. The event was also a tribute to Vietnam Veterans who flew the OH-6 scout helicopter.

John Blehm was one of the honored guests, recognized for his Vietnam service with Delta and Echo Companies of the 1st of the 5th Cavalry. After Vietnam, John Blehm wrote a book about his struggle to overcome PTSD titled, Angel of Death: True Story of a Vietnam Vet’s War Experience and His Battle to Overcome PTSD, the Cancer of the Soul.

Rex Gooch served with Lighthorse Air Cavalry in Vietnam and authored two books; the first about an incredible war hero titled, ACE: The Story of Lt. Col. Ace Cozzalio, and the second book about Gooch’s service in Vietnam as an U.S. Army helicopter pilot titled, The Aviators, Stories of U.S. Army Helicopter Combat in the Vietnam War, 1971-72.
