96th Oklahoma State FFA Convention
After capturing top honors in their Oklahoma FFA Agriscience Fair, two members of the Guthrie
FFA Chapter will represent the organization in the National Agriscience Fair during the 95th
National FFA Convention in October. The following winner was honored during the 96th
Oklahoma FFA Convention in Tulsa:
Power, Structural and Technical - Division II: Zachary Allen and Holden Ingram
The FFA Agriscience Fair recognizes students who study the application of scientific principles and emerging
technologies in agricultural enterprises. Participation begins at the local level and progresses to the state and
national levels. The competition closely mirrors an international science fair but reflects an agricultural theme.
In Addition Mollie Throckmorton of the Guthrie FFA Chapter was your state runner up in the FFA
creed speaking division of the state FFA speech contest during the 2022 Oklahoma FFA Interscholastics at
Oklahoma State University on April 22. This division allows ninth-grade FFA members to recite the FFA
Creed written by E.M. Tiffany. The students are judged on their ability to deliver the creed effectively and to
answer judges’ questions about agriculture and FFA.
Also Recognized at the State FFA Convention were Guthrie FFA members Maysen Garrett and Hailey
Drake. Garrett earned state runner up honors in the 2022 Oklahoma FFA Diversified Livestock Production
Proficiency Award area during the 96th Oklahoma FFA Convention on May 4 and Drake was your 3 rd
Overall winner in the Outdoor Recreation Proficiency area.
The diversified livestock production proficiency award is designed to recognize students who are involved in
a supervised agricultural experience involving the production and marketing of two or more livestock-related
proficiencies, which include beef, dairy, swine, sheep, equine, specialty animals, small animal production and
poultry.
The outdoor recreation placement proficiency award is designed to recognize students who are involved in a
supervised agricultural experience related to using the land primarily for outdoor recreational activities. Some
activities included in this proficiency area are vacation cabins and cottages, camping areas, fishing, hunting,
shooting preserves, guide services, riding stables, vacation farms and guest ranches, natural scenic or historic
areas, and rodeo events where the member does not own or manage animals.
The award is sponsored on the state level by the Oklahoma CareerTech Foundation.
Guthrie FFA also had 5 senior members receive their State FFA Degree. The State FFA Degree is
the highest honor an FFA member can receive on a State Level. Members must keep accurate records of
their Supervised Agriculture Experiences as well as their involvement in FFA.
The Dairy Cattle Evaluation team which consisted of Josie Throckmorton, Mollie Throckmorton,
Marion Stewart, and Delphia Howell were awarded a trophy for being your State Runners Up in the Dairy
Cattle Evaluation Career Development Event. Team member Mollie Throckmorton also was your 3 rd high
individual at this contest and was presented a medal on stage.
In addtion Guthrie FFA was recognized as a 3 star National Chapter. This is an award presented
not only on a state level but a National level as well. Of the 364 chapters in the State of Oklahoma only 23
were presented with this honor. Guthrie FFA is very proud of continuing this tradition as a National
Chapter, and celebrates the many suceesses their program and members have accomplished this past year.
