The annual ’89er Days Celebration received official recognition, marking April 18, 2026, as Guthrie ’89ers Celebration Day, as Gov. Kevin Stitt signed the ’89er Proclamation during a ceremony held March 31 at the Oklahoma State Capitol.
The proclamation honors Guthrie’s longstanding tradition of celebrating the historic Land Run of 1889 and recognizes the community’s continued efforts to preserve and share its heritage through the annual festival.
Those in attendance included '89er Days Royalty and committee members, local residents, and Guthrie city officials, all gathered to mark the occasion and show support for one of Oklahoma’s oldest and most cherished celebrations.
The '89er Days Celebration commemorates the founding of Guthrie and its role in Oklahoma history, drawing visitors each year for a lineup of events that highlight the city’s historic charm and community spirit.
The proclamation serves as a meaningful reminder of the importance of preserving local history while continuing to bring the community together through shared traditions.
