Firefighters Honored for Heroic Rescue in January Blaze

At a recent City Council meeting, Captain Fairless recognized four firefighters for their courageous actions during a house fire on January 6th. The firefighters received commendations and citation pins for what is known in the fire service as “getting a grab”—rescuing a life in a dangerous situation.

During the interior fire attack, the team, also conducting search and rescue efforts, discovered an elderly man trapped inside the burning home. The firefighters swiftly rescued him and handed him over to Guthrie EMS, who transported him to receive treatment for smoke inhalation.

The Green Shift Goats, as they’re called, were praised for their bravery and unwavering commitment to protecting the community. Their swift actions in the face of danger reflect the highest standards of service and dedication.
