A Crescent man was killed in a fatal car crash on Tuesday at 10:09 a.m. at the intersection of North MacArthur Boulevard and West Crescent Dover Road, about one mile west of Crescent.
According to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) report, the lone vehicle involved was a 2000 Toyota Tacoma, driven by 50-year-old James Dean Ramsey.
Ramsey was pronounced dead at the scene by medical professionals. His body was transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Oklahoma City.
OHP said Ramsey was traveling southbound on MacArthur Boulevard at a high rate of speed when he ran a stop sign at Crescent Dover Road.
OHP said the excessive speed caused the vehicle to lift off the ground and overturn onto its driver’s side.
The report said Ramsey wasn’t wearing a seat belt and was partially ejected through the driver’s side window and pinned underneath the vehicle. Airbags were equipped in the vehicle, but did not deploy.
The exact condition of the driver leading up to the crash is under investigation, but speed has been listed in the OHP report as the primary cause of the collision.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.
