Free throws doom Bluejackets in loss to Wesleyan Christian

The Coyle Bluejackets showed their inexperience on Saturday in the Area II District 4 championship game against Wesleyan Christian of Bartlesville by dropping a 59-49 decision in overtime. The ‘Jackets actually led 15-10 after the first quarter and 28-22 at the half.

Guthrie High School Slow Pitch Softball to Begin First Season

Guthrie High School’s first ever slow pitch softball season will begin on March 1. Slow pitch softball was one of two sports, the other being Guthrie Junior High soccer, to be added to Guthrie Public Schools athletics after being approved during a Guthrie school board meeting on Dec. 14, 2020.

Cashion’s Green and Harrell sign Letters of Intent

Cashion High School seniors Caden Harrell and Brexten Green signed Letters of Intent on Feb. 3 to continue their football careers. Harrell will be attending Oklahoma Baptist University, and Green signed with Emporia State.

Cashion High School Celebrates Winter Homecoming

The Cashion Wildcat basketball teams celebrated Winter Homecoming on Jan. 31. Senior Bella Schenk was named the queen and senior Jake Wilkerson was named the king. Schenk is the daughter of Ryan and Kelli Schenk and is active in basketball, track, Student Council, FCA, and Peer Mentoring.

The Cashion basketball teams were busy last week as the season winds down and the teams get ready for the playoffs. Cashion also was notified on Feb. 5 that they will host a sub-regional site for the Class 2A Area III playoffs.

Crescent Grinds out road win at OCA

Luke Descher took the handoff and sprinted left through the hole in the defense. He reached the end zone untouched, sealing Crescent’s 22-8 win Thursday night against Oklahoma Christian Academy at Edmond North’s Husky Stadium.

OSSAA Gives Update on High School Sports

Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, high school sports have pressed forward in Oklahoma. The football season is at roughly the midway point, and playoffs are beginning in other sports. It hasn’t come without incident. School districts have had to cancel games each week.
