1948-2025
Stephen Eugene Woodard, 76, of Pearland, Texas (formerly of Guthrie, Oklahoma) passed away peacefully at home on May 20th, 2025. He was born June 2nd, 1948, in Guthrie, Oklahoma to Eugene (Arch) and Meralyn Woodard. Steve lived a full life of service both to his community and church. He will be remembered for his kindness to others, his quick wit, and sharp sense of humor.
Steve was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He graduated from Guthrie High School in 1966. He retired from AT&T after 35 years of service. Steve also served as a deacon at First Southern Baptist Church in Guthrie. He enjoyed helping family and individuals in the community by either mowing their lawns, putting their newspapers on their porches, or simply sitting with them and sharing a cup of coffee. His times spent with friends in the coffee shop or at church were some of his fondest memories. If you were a Texas acquaintance, you likely shared some good laughs with him at his favorite Mexican restaurant. He shared his love of James Bond, Harry Potter, and cookies with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Patricia (Pat) Woodard, his daughter Wendy Woodard Lentino, and her husband Vincent, of Houston, and by his son-in-law David Wallis, of Guthrie. He was a devoted grandfather to Connor Mosley, Isabella Lentino, and Liliana Lentino. He is also survived by his siblings Kathryn and Jim McGee, and William and Jennie Woodard, as well as many nieces and nephews and by his sister-in-law Rhonda Lynn, of Crescent.
Steve was preceded in death by his daughter, Lori Woodard Wallis, his parents, Eugene (Arch) and Meralyn Woodard; his brother, Richard Woodard, and his grandparents Irene and Harvey Donnell.
A graveside memorial service to celebrate Steve’s life will be held at Summit Vi ew Ce m e tery in Guthrie on June 14th at 11am.
