1958 - 2026
Stanley Von Vick, Sr. was born on March 14, 1958, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Leon Vick, Sr. and Queen Esther (Thompson) Vick. As the fifth of eight children, he was raised in a close-knit family where love, resilience, and faith were the foundation of daily life.
He attended Langston Elementary School and graduated from Guthrie High School in 1976. Driven to build a life through hard work and skill, Stanley continued his education at Indian Meridian Technology Center in Stillwater, earning his certification in CNC Mechanics. Over the years, he became known as a dependable and hardworking man, taking on many roles throughout his life, including substitute teaching at Guthrie High School and working with the Oklahoma Feed Lot, National Standards, the Langston Water Department, and Oklahoma State University’s Water Department. No matter the job, Stanley showed up with quiet strength and a steady commitment to providing for his family.
A man of deep and abiding faith, Stanley gave his life to Christ at an early age. His spiritual foundation guided him throughout his life, and he remained active in his church community, attending New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Langston for many years and later Mt. Bethel Baptist Church. His faith was not just something he spoke of, it was something he lived.
Stanley was also deeply rooted in his community. He was active in 4-H and the county election board and took great pride in his work as a 32nd Degree Mason, Rising Star #22 in Langston and Alpha Lodge #1 in Guthrie. He valued service, brotherhood, and leaving things better than he found them.
Outside of work and service, Stanley found joy in life’s simple, meaningful moments. He loved riding horses, farming, fishing, gardening, traveling, and going to the movies. He had a deep appreciation for being outdoors and working with his hands, but nothing brought him more happiness than being surrounded by his family. His children, grandchildren, and loved ones were the center of his world, and he took great pride in each of them.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Ann Vick; his sons, Stanley Von Vick, Jr., Desmond Vick, and Al Vick and wife Amanda; his stepdaughters, Lele and Kiahnna; his brothers, Leon Vick, Jr., Donald Vick, Sr., Ronald Vick, Sr., and Robert Vick; his sisters, Gail Ramirez and husband Leonardo, and Gwendolyn Johnson and husband Bertram; his mother-in-law, Hattie McCarroll; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters- in- law, brothers-in-law, and extended family who will forever cherish his memory.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon Vick, Sr. and Queen Esther Vick; his brother, Alfred Dennis Vick; and his beloved grandson, Desmond Eli Vick, Jr.
Stanley’s life was one defined by faith, dedication, and love. He was a steady presence, a hard worker, and a man who showed his care through his actions. His legacy will live on in the lives he touched, the family he loved, and the values he instilled in those who knew him.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 27, 2026 at 11:00 AM at the I. W. Young Auditorium on the campus of Langston University. Interment will follow at Beulah Land Cemetery, Langston, OK.
