Sara Martha Martinez, 81, of Guthrie, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2025, in Oklahoma City, surrounded by love.

Born on May 20, 1943, to Jody and Margaret ( Cockerham) Mayabb, Sara lived a life rooted in faith, service, and unwavering devotion to her family. She was married to the love of her life, Antonio Martinez, on August 31, 1960. Together, they built a life filled with love and laughter until his passing in 2011.

A proud dietician by trade, Sara dedicated many years of her life to St. Anthony Hospital, where her care and compassion left lasting impressions on those she served. She earned her associate degree and remained a lifelong learner, always curious and engaged.

Sara was a woman of deep faith and an active member of the Seward Road Baptist Church. She served her church family selflessly, volunteering her time and talents and offering kindness to all. Her involvement with the Shriners and other organizations reflected her heart for giving and helping others.

She is lovingly remembered by her children, Antonio Martinez Jr. of Shawnee and Denise Castiglia of Waco, Texas; her grandchildren, Summer and Shawna; and her siblings, Barbara Robinson and husband Bill of Oklahoma City, Maxine Brown of Oklahoma City, and Donald Ray Hale of Bethany. Sara was preceded in death by her husband, Antonio; her daughter Rhonda Sue Lee; her parents Jody and Margaret Mayabb; and her siblings Joanne Rozniata and Jody Mayabb, Jr.

She lived in Guthrie for more than 35 years and brought warmth and light to every corner of her community. Sara’s legacy is one of faith, generosity, and fierce love for her family. She will be missed beyond measure and remembered with joy.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 4:00 PM at Seward Road Baptist Church (4801 W Seward Rd, Guthrie, OK 73044) with burial following at Seward Cemetery (located at the northeast corner of Seward and Broadway in Guthrie).

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025 from 12-6 PM at Hayes Funeral Home.
